Mercyhurst Art Ed Represents at the
Pennsylvania Art Education Association Conference in Brandywine, PA
Ten art education students that attended with Professor Nischal included Austin Almendarez, Lauren Balint, Darlene Fahmey, Carli Hatfield, Betsy Morningstar, Kaylyn Stack, Meredith Stalker, Kevin Salem (not pictured) and Tyler Stauffer. Amy Breininger (interior design student) also attended.
While at the 3 day conference art ed students attended many workshops and presentations from Art teachers, students, and researchers from across the state. One of our own student's, Darlene Fahmey, held a work shop titled "Memory Boxes" which served as a model lesson plan that utilized pizza boxes (and other boxes) to construct boxes for storing memories, personal items, poetry etc. Art Education Program Director and Art Ed Club Advisor, Camille Nischal also presented at the conference. The presentation was titled, "Teaching in the 21st Century: Web 2.0 Tools in Arts Education" and explored the latest and greatest in technological tools and methods that can be used in art rooms in the digital era. Nischal was also a panelist in the "New and Pre-Service Art Teacher" session.
